A recent analysis suggests that laptops on average only last up to three years.
U.S. (WiredPRNews.com) – A recent analysis proposed the life span of laptops is not as long as some might expect. As reported on the Yahoo! Tech blog, the SquareTrade analysis of 30,000 laptops showed the average life span of a laptop to be up to three years.
As noted in the report, a number of factors impact how long a laptop will last, or why they eventually break down including hardware malfunctions caused by mishaps such as drops. SquareTrade is quoted in the blog article as stating of the findings, “the typical laptop endures more use and abuse than nearly any other consumer electronic device (with the possible exception of cell phones).”
Noted protections for laptops include the use of a padded case when transporting them places to provide protection from accidents and elements.
