Cell phones used in classroom learning
Some teachers have begun using the mobile devices for classroom teaching.
Florida (WiredPRNews.com) – Some teachers have begun using cell phones for class lessons. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a growing number of classrooms in the country have implemented the use of cell phones for student instruction.
Ariana Leonard, a high school teacher at Wiregrass Ranch High School in Wesley Chapel, Florida, is quoted by the AP as stating of using the mobile devices to teach her students, “I can use my cell phone for all these things, why can’t I use it for learning purposes?… Giving them something, a mobile device, that they use every day for fun, giving them another avenue to learn outside of the classroom with that.”
Dan Domevech, with the American Association of School Administrators, is further quoted as stating of the benefits of using this kind of technology in education, “It really is taking advantage of the love affair that kids have with technology today… The kids are much more motivated to use their cell phone in an educational manner.”
