New York (WiredPRNews.com) – Grammy winning singer Alicia Keys will reportedly take five contest winners with her on a trip to Africa next year. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the 28 year-old singer recently launched a contest via her charity Keep a Child Alive that will provide five individuals with the opportunity to join her on a trip to the continent next year.
Keys is quoted by the AP as stating of her first visit to Africa, “I was probably like 19 or something. I was asked to come to Africa to perform, and so you think, `I’m just the girl from Harlem, I wrote a couple of songs on 137th Street, and then suddenly you want me to come to Africa? And people will know me? And people will know the songs?’ It was a mind-blowing experience for me.”
As noted in the report, the contest was set to be announced by Keys Tuesday during a performance in New York, which will also be shown live via YouTube at 8:00 p.m. EST. More information about entering the contest may be available at http://www.keepachildalive.org.
