The president will reportedly lay out plans for expanding the war in Afghanistan Tuesday.

Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – President Barack Obama will reportedly provide Americans with details on the war expansion in Afghanistan on Tuesday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama is expected to outline the plans to send thousands of additional requested troops to the country, but is not expected to provide a definitive timetable for ending the war.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs is quoted by the AP as stating of plans for Afghanistan, “This is not an open-ended commitment… We are there to partner with the Afghans, to train the Afghan national security forces, the army and the police so that they can provide security for their country and wage a battle against an unpopular insurgency.”

As noted in the report, the president has stated his plan will lead to an end of the war.
