The FDEP has reportedly begun searching for asbestos at an overpass construction site.
Fort Myers (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – Florida state inspectors have reportedly begun a search for asbestos at an overpass construction site. As reported by NBC-2 News online, construction work on the Summerlin overpass in Southwest Florida has been halted due to the FDEP’s inspection of the area.
Sherrill Culliver of FDEP is quoted in the report as stating of possible asbestos contamination “If you look in close, you can see the fibers up in here and that’s usually an indication of asbestos… I won’t be sure until I get my results back. But professionally, we’ve come across this a lot.”
As noted in the report, the results of lab tests on the initial findings are expected to be completed by the week’s end.
