Pro wrestler dies of heart attack
Eki Fatu passed away Friday.
Houston, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Professional wrestler Eki “Eddie” Fatu has died. As reported by Yahoo! Sports, Fatu passed away Friday after suffering a massive heart attack. The 36 year-old was reportedly found by his wife at his home in Texas unconscious and subsequently rushed to the hospital.
As noted in the report, Fatu received notoriety as part of the wrestling act, “The Wiled Samoans,” of which his cousin, former fellow wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was also a member. He was a co-headliner of Wrestlemania in 2007, which was a high point in his career. However, his WWE contract was reportedly cancelled in June following his refusal to enter a rehab program after a drug policy violation.
Afa Anoa’i is quoted by Yahoo! Sports as stating to the Wrestling Observer of Fatu’s sudden death, “On behalf of my family, the Anoa’i and Fatu family, we are devastated and shocked by the loss of our Eki.”
