TV a favorite pastime in recession
More people have turned to television as a favorite pastime amid troubled economic times.
Los Angeles, California (WiredPRNews.com) – The recession has reportedly led to many Americans returning to an old favorite pastime for family entertainment. As reported by Reuters, more people are watching television as the economic downturn leaves many with tighter entertainment budgets. A recent survey on entertainment preferences of individuals in the U.S. shows 26 percent more respondents listed watching television as their preferred media related hobby.
Ed Moran, director of insights and innovation at Deloitte, is quoted in the report as stating in an interview of the matter, “Television was a big beneficiary of (the recession)… The data does not support the demise of television, and advertising on television is still more effective than online ads.” Moran further notes, “There is much more passion around TV shows and they are using TiVos and DVRs to watch what they want to watch.”
