Walt Disney nephew passes away
Roy Disney died Wednesday after battling stomach cancer.
Los Angeles, California (WiredPRNews.com) – Roy Disney, the nephew of acclaimed entertainment entrepreneur Walt Disney, has died. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Disney passed away Wednesday at age 79, following a battle with stomach cancer.
Bob Iger, president and chief executive of The Walt Disney Company, is quoted by the AP as stating of Disney, “Roy’s commitment to the art of animation was unparalleled and will always remain his personal legacy and one of his greatest contributions to Disney’s past, present and future.”
John Lasseter, chief creative officer for Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, is further quoted as stating of the industry veteran’s influence, “He put his heart and soul into preserving Disney’s legendary past, while helping to move the art of animation into the modern age by embracing new technology.”
