CDC releases new estimates on autism
The CDC has estimated that 1 in 110 children are dealing with autism.
Atlanta, GA (WiredPRNews.com) – New CDC estimates reveal the number of children with autism may be higher than previously stated. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the new estimates by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that 1 in 110 children have the disorder.
Catherine Rice, a CDC behavioral scientist, is quoted by the AP as stating of the change from the previous 1 in 150 estimate, “At this point it’s impossible to say how much is a true increase and how much is identification.”
As noted in the report, the researchers of the study analyzed school and medical records of approximately 2,800 children in various communities across the U.S. Children with the disorder, are on average diagnosed when they are approximately 4 ½.
