Thieves may have been exposed to asbestos during theft
Thieves who stole copper piping early this week may have exposed themselves to asbestos.
U.K. (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – Thieves who reportedly stole copper piping from a Nottingham based skip may have unknowingly exposed themselves to asbestos. As reported by BBC news, the thieves, who took the piping sometime between late Monday and early Tuesday, potentially exposed themselves to the dangerous toxic mineral in the process of the theft.
As noted by the BBC, the copper was contained in a locked skip to prevent public asbestos contamination. The thieves cut a lock on the sealed container to remove the copper, which possibly released the asbestos dust. The identified thieves are now being urged to seek the proper medical attention immediately to assess potential health consequences of possible asbestos exposure from the incident.
