Howard Stern threatens to leave Sirius Radio
Radio personality Howard Stern has reportedly threatened to quit Sirius Radio.
New York (WiredPRNews.com) – Controversial radio personality Howard Stern has reportedly threatened to leave the radio broadcasting company he’s been with since 2006. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Stern may part ways with Sirius XM Radio after his lucrative five-year contract ends.
As noted by the AP, many speculate that revenue declines for the company due to decreases in advertising sales and increased Internet radio competition may play a role in its ability to pay Stern anywhere near the $500 million in cash and stock he was offered for his initial contract.
Tom Taylor, executive news editor of Radio-Info.com, is quoted as stating of Stern’s options to quit or retire, “Howard has the creative and business freedom to do what he wants to. He can just about write his own ticket in a number of areas… He doesn’t need to do anything. He’s going to pay the rent fine.”
