Tea party protestors gathered Monday to oppose a recent vote by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson regarding a defense spending bill.

Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Tea Party protestors met Monday to rally against a recent vote by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, groups from Dallas, Houston, and Austin protested at the Senator’s office in response to her decision to vote on a defense spending bill Republicans decided to filibuster. The move was planned as an attempt to delay work on the current health care bill in the Senate.

Phillip Dennis, leader of the Dallas Tea Party, is quoted in the report as stating of the issue, “We want to let her know that we are not happy… If we can’t trust her to fulfill her promises as a senator, how can we trust her as governor?”

Jennifer Baker, a spokesperson for Hutchinson, is further quoted in the report as stating in response to the protests and opposition to health care legislation, “She agrees with the Tea Parties that this is a horrendous bill… She understands the frustration and she is doing everything she can to fight the bill.”
