Teresa Heinz reportedly battling breast cancer
The wife of Senator John Kerry is reportedly receiving treatment for breast cancer.
Boston, Massachusetts (WiredPRNews.com) – Teresa Heinz, the wife of Senator and former presidential candidate John Kerry, is reportedly undergoing treatment for breast cancer. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Heinz, whose cancer was found by a mammogram, recently expressed disagreement with a recent U.S. Preventive Services Task Force decision regarding the age women should begin receiving annual mammograms.
Heinz is quoted by the AP as stating of the issue, “Chemotherapy is serious. It also costs a lot of money. It’s very painful. And it’s very destructive of people’s — most people’s — lives for a while, anyway. So why put people through that instead of just having a test that’s done, and it’s done?… So that’s why I was so upset about that decision of this panel.”
As noted in the report, Heinz was diagnosed with the disease in September.
