Smells may aid in obesity battle
Research suggests that certain aromas may help in the fight against obesity.
U.S. (WiredPRNews.com) – New research suggests anti-hunger smells could aid in the fight against obesity. As reported by LiveScience, researchers found that certain molecules may trigger a full feeling that leads to eating less.
As noted in the report, scientists at NIZO Food Research in Ede, The Netherlands found that scents released during chewing can reduce the hunger sensation. Scientists are seeking to develop food products that release anti-hunger odors, and other techniques that could aid in combating obesity. Food technologist Rianne Ruijschop is quoted by LiveScience as stating of the research findings, “These were quite unexpected results…Everyone was quite astonished and very energetic about them.”
More information about the study may be found in the November 11 publication of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
