Lego maker seeks expansion into online world
The toymaker is set to release a multiplayer game online.
Las Vegas (WiredPRNews.com) – The toymaker renowned for its building block creation for kids is seeking to expand its empire online. As reported by AFP, Lego is set to release a multiplayer game online called Lego Universe.
Chris Sherland with Colorado-based game development company NetDevil, which developed Lego Universe, is quoted in the report as stating of the game, “Think World of Warcraft, Second Life and Club Penguin all wrapped into one.” Sherland is further quoted as stating, “Lego Universe is the first MMO based in the Lego play theme… So there’s a really safe social layer for kids, good parental controls. There’s not a lot of predatory stuff going on.”
The game, which was unveiled at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, will reportedly be released later this year.
