Conan ratings jump amid late night controversy
Ratings for “The Tonight Show” have reportedly increased amid reports that new host Conan O’Brien is leaving.
Los Angeles (WiredPRNews.com) – Ratings for “The Tonight Show” have reportedly seen a significant increase as many await word on whether new host Conan O’Brien will remain. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), ratings on Friday were stated to be fifty percent higher than previous numbers so far this season, amid controversy over NBC’s purported decision to give former host Jay Leno back his old spot, after only months of O’Brien hosting the late night show.
Gavin Polone, O’Brien’s manager, is quoted by the AP as stating of the boost in ratings, “People who never watched Conan before are saying, `I’ll try it… Now they’re saying, `This is good, I’ll stick with it.”
As noted in the report, Jay Leno hosted “Tonight” for 17 years prior to leaving the show.
