Consumer warning about cheap jewelry
The consumer chief recently issued a warning to parents about cheap metal jewelry for children.
U.S. (WiredPRNews.com) – The chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission recently issued a warning to parents regarding possible contamination in cheap children’s jewelry imported from China. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Inez Tenenbaum warned that the products should be thrown away due to their possibly containing lead, cadmium, and other toxic metals.
Tenenbaum is quoted by the AP as writing is a blog post this week, “I have a message for parents, grandparents and caregivers: Do not allow young children to be given or to play with cheap metal jewelry, especially when they are unsupervised.”
Tenenbaum is further quoted as writing, “To prevent young children from possibly being exposed to lead, cadmium or any other hazardous heavy metal, take the jewelry away.”
