Cindy McCain supports gay marriage campaign
The wife of Republican senator John McCain posed for photos endorsing NOH8.
Washington (WiredPRNews.com) – The wife of Republican senator John McCain, Cindy McCain, recently lent her support to a group that endorses gay marriage rights. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Mrs. McCain posed for a photoshoot, along with her daughter, Meghan, for an ad campaign posted on the website of the NOH8 organization, which opposes the California same-sex marriage ban Proposition 8.
As noted in the report, the office of John McCain released a statement regarding the photo endorsement citing that despite the senator’s opposition to gay marriage, he respects the views of his family.
The NOH8 Web site is quoted in the report as stating, “Although we had worked with Meghan McCain before and were aware of her own position, we’d never really thought the cause might be something her mother would get behind. We have a huge amount of respect for both of these women for being brave enough to make it known they support equal marriage rights for all Americans.”
