First Lady aids in fight against obesity
Michelle Obama is helping launch a new campaign geared towards combating the obesity epidemic.
Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama is aiding in the launch of a new campaign aimed at combating obesity. As reported by Reuters, Obama recently spoke about the obesity epidemic to a group of advocates for children in Alexandria.
Obama is quoted in the report as stating to the audience regarding dealing with the public health issue, “This will not be easy and it won’t happen overnight. And it won’t happen simply because the first lady has made it her priority… It’s going to take all of us. Thank God it’s not going to be solely up to me.”
As noted by Reuters, two-thirds of adults and one in three children in the U.S. are reportedly obese or overweight, which can put them at greater risk for serious health complications.
