Blogging less of a draw to young people
A new study suggests young people are less drawn to blogging as their means of communicating become more mobile.
U.S. (WiredPRNews.com) – Texting, social networking sites, and other popular outlets for communication have lead to a decrease in blogging interest for younger individuals. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the communication styles of young people today has led to a change in the way many young people view blogging.
Harvard University’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society fellow Danah Boyd is quoted by the AP as stating, “Remember when ‘You’ve got mail!’ used to produce a moment of enthusiasm and not dread?” With blogs, “people focus on using them for what they’re good for and turning to other channels for more exciting things.”
As noted in the report, the Pew Internet & American Life Project survey was released on Wednesday.
