Anchorage, Alaska (WiredPRNews.com) – A fishing vessel captain featured on the Discovery Channel reality program the “Deadliest Catch” has died. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Capt. Phil Harris passed away after suffering a stroke.
As noted in the report, Harris was the father of two sons Jake and Josh, who worked as deckhands on his famous fishing vessel Cornelia Marie. Elizabeth Hillman, a spokesperson for the Discovery Channel, is quoted by the AP as releasing the statement on behalf of Harris’ sons, “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad — Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end.”
The network is further quoted as releasing the statement regarding Harris’ death, “We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart.”
Harris was 53 years old.
