Microsoft to test ‘Social Connector’
The company is releasing a test version of new software that tracks updates on social networking activities.
Seattle (WiredPRNews.com) – Microsoft Corp. is set to release a test version of software that showcases an email sender’s social networking activities when using Outlook. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the add-on software Outlook Social Connector is expected to be released on Wednesday.
As noted in the report, the software showcases recent social networking activities online when users read their email messages. The updates may include those for sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn. It is also stated to handle Outlook as though it were a social network, allowing email senders and recipients to view updates when working on joint items using a Sharepoint server.
As further noted by the AP, the Outlook Social Connector beta version will be available this week for download for users of Office 2003, 2007 and beta versions of Office 2010.
