Research shows ways to improve happiness

Studies illustrate how individuals may be able to take their happiness into their own hands.
San Diego (WiredPRNews.com) – A recent study suggests individuals may be able to exert more control over their own happiness than previously thought. As reported by LiveScience, psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky of the University of California, Riverside and collegues recently presented their analysis on several studies that deal with ways in which happiness may be boosted through positive thinking.
Lyubomirsky, who spoke over the weekend at the American Association for the Advancement of Science is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “The billion-dollar question is, is it possible to become happier?… Despite the finding that happiness is partially genetically determined, and despite the finding that life situations have a smaller influence on our happiness than we think they do, we argue that still a large portion of happiness is in our power to change.”
More information about the study may be available in the Journal of Clinical Psychology.
