U.K. (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – A new study encourages action to be taken to address the problem with asbestos in several schools in the U.K. As reported by Telegraph.co.uk, the Asbestos Testing and Consultancy Association’s Assessment of Asbestos Management in Schools report found that none of the schools that agreed to a voluntary inspection for the study were compliant with Health and Safety Executive guidance.

The report is quoted by Telegraph.co.uk as stating, “In the majority of these schools the systems of asbestos management are not of an acceptable standard, they are ineffective and at times dangerous… The majority had unacceptable standards which were either ineffective or unworkable and with the potential to cause a contamination or exposure incident.”

As noted in the report, the assessment is set to be given to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Schools Diana Johnson MP Wednesday.
