Comic sale breaks record at Dallas auction

A Batman Comic sales for over $1 million Thursday.
Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – A Batman comic fetched a record sum Thursday at a Dallas auction. As reported by CBS 11 News, the 1939 comic book was sold for $1,075,500 at Heritage Auction Galleries, days after a Superman comic that sold for $1 million set an initial record.
Barry Sandoval, director of operations of Heritage’s comics division, is quoted in the report as stating of the sale, “It pretty much blew away all of our expectations and now it’s the highest price ever raised for a comic book…. We can really say that Batman has nosed out Superman, at least for now.”
J.C. Vaughn, associate publisher of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, is further quoted in the report as stating of the comic book sales, “I think that you can greenly ascribe this to a real comfort with the liquidity of rare, high grade vintage collectibles.”
