The NAACP Image Awards were held this week to honor artists in entertainment.

Los Angeles (WiredPRNews.com) – The NAACP Image Awards were held on Friday in honor of diverse artists in entertainment. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), presenters and performers at the ceremony which was held at the Shrine Auditorium included Jill Scott, Carlos Santana, and LL Cool J. Wyclef Jean, who also performed was honored with the Vanguard Award. Other honorees included Maxwell, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tyler Perry.

Wheelchair bound actor Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, who received an award for his sitcom “Brothers,” is quoted in the report as stating during his acceptance speech, “As long as you all got legs, I’m going to always walk.”

As noted by the AP, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People ceremony honors the achievements of individuals in film, literature, music and television.
