New details of asbestos issues in developer case

Des Moines (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – New issues regarding allegations against a developer and a project supervisor were listed in an indictment announced this week. As reported by DesMoinesRegister.com, developer Robert Knapp and project supervisor Russell William Coco were alleged to have contributed to the illegal removal of asbestos from the landmark Equitable Building.
As noted in the report, each stand accused of violations of the Clean Air Act. Knapp is quoted in the report as previously stating to a reporter regarding the investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources regarding the matter, “It’s goofy. These old buildings hardly had anything in them. It’s just minute.”
As further noted in the report, if convicted, both Knapp and Coco may be sentenced to serve up to five years in prison and ordered to pay fines for each of the 11 counts.
