Texas drivers who are uninsured will reportedly be sent warning letters regarding obtaining required auto insurance.

Waco, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Drivers in the state of Texas who have not obtained proper auto insurance will reportedly be sent formal warnings from the state. As reported by WacoTrib.com, uninsured drivers who have been identified by the Texas Deaprtment of Insurance via a database, that are believed to be in violation of the law will reportedly be sent a letter requesting verification of having insurance on their registered vehicles.

As noted in the report, an estimated 4.1 million passenger vehicle registrations for the state have not been determined to be included on an insurance policy. Spokesman Jerry Hagins is quoted in the report as stating of sending the letters to uninsured drivers, “It will be an opportunity to remind them what their responsibility is.”

As further noted in the report, fines for not having required insurance may range from $350 to $1,000.
