Australia (Mesothelioma Cancer News) – An expert has reportedly been called to address the concerns of students and teachers regarding asbestos exposure in schools. As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the Queensland Government is purportedly planning to fly in an occupational health and safety expert to speak to over 2,000 individuals who may have been exposed to the toxic mineral at local schools.
Education Minister Geoff Wilson is quoted in the report as stating of notifying parents and staff about the plans, “We’re encouraging staff and parents to contact the principals of the two schools to notify their interest and concern and he will be advising parents of the situation regarding the potential health of their children and whether or not particular further steps may need to be taken.”
