Board delays .XXX domain decision

The decision of whether to allow a .XXX domain to be created for the adult entertainment industry has been delayed.
Washington (WiredPRNews.com) – The decision to allow for the creation of a .XXX domain name for the adult entertainment industry has been postponed. As reported by AFP, the web addresses international regulatory entity ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, decided Friday during a meeting in Nairobi to put making their decision on hold until June.
As noted by AFP, domain name registry company ICM Registry put in an application for the domain name for the industry in 2004, but it was denied in 2007; a decision subsequently overturned by a review panel.
As further noted in the report, ICANN, which is based in California, handles Domain Name System and Internet Protocol addresses online. The next meeting for ICANN will reportedly take place in Brussels June 20-25.
