Facebook users target of new virus

Facebook users are reportedly being targeted by a virus that steals personal information.
Massachusetts (WiredPRNews.com) – Facebook users are the target of a new Internet virus that attempts to steal sensitive information. As reported by Reuters, the spam requests that users click on emailed attachments to reset Facebook login information, and downloads malicious programs that seek to obtain banking and other personal information when opened.
Anti-virus software maker McAfee Inc. is noted in the report to estimate that tens of millions of the emails have been sent to users in the United States and other parts of the globe.
Dave Marcus, director of malware research and communications for McAfee, is quoted by Reuters as stating of the issue, “With Facebook as your lure, you potentially have 400 million people that can click on the attachment. If you get 10 percent success, that’s 40 million.”
