Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle says he’s felt privileged to have served in his role as he nears retirement.

As reported by NBC DFW News, Kunkle, who was hired to work for the department as a police officer 38 years ago, stated he felt privileged to have served as Dallas Police Chief.
Kunkle is quoted in the report as stating, “The chance of being chief is close to zero, it just doesn’t happen to very many people…so I’ve felt very privileged to have the job.” He further stated of the city’s progress, “If someone told me when I started that these six years looked the way they looked, I would be surprised… I expected things to be a lot worse than they have been.”
