Beijing (WiredPRNews.com) – A China journalist club has reportedly shut down its website due to a string of online attacks by hackers. As reported by Reuters, the Foreign Correspondents Club of China stated on Friday that its website was shut down, days following attacks by hackers on the Yahoo email accounts of certain journalists.
The club’s board is quoted by Reuters as stating of the matter in an emailed statement, “We do not know who is behind the attacks or what their motivation is.” The club’s site reportedly experienced “persistent attacks” prior to the shut down.
As noted in the report, other incidents have been reported that shed light on issues concerning threats to online accounts of groups and others whose activism work is connected to China.
