Actress Dixie Carter died Saturday of cancer complications.
Los Angeles (WiredPRNews.com) – Actress Dixie Carter has reportedly died. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the star of the popular 1980s-1990s sitcom “Designing Women” passed away Saturday in Houston due to cancer related complications.
As noted in the report, Carter, a Tennessee native, wed fellow actor Hal Holbrook in 1984 after meeting four year prior while making a film. The actress, who has appeared in several television films and series, and earned an Emmy nomination in 2007 for guest appearances on “Desperate Housewives,” is most known for her role as Southern belle Julia Sugarbaker on “Designing Women.”
Holbrook is quoted by the AP as releasing the statement of his wife’s death, “This has been a terrible blow to our family…We would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy.”
