The city will reportedly end its red light camera program.
Frisco, Texas (WiredPRNew.com) – Frisco is set to end its red light camera program as the need for it is shown to have declined. As reported by NBC DFW News, Frisco police say the program’s effectiveness at improving the safety of what were deemed the most dangerous intersections in the city have led to it no longer being necessary, as the number of citations and accidents have decreased following its implementation.
As noted in the report, the cameras were installed at various intersections due to a number of crashes allegedly caused by the unsafe practices of some drivers. Sgt. Adam Henderson is quoted in the report as stating of the camera’s success, “They really put themselves out of business by their mere effectiveness.”
As further noted in the report, police say the cameras may be reinstalled based on future need.
