A new study suggests olive oil may be a key ingredient that provides health benefits in a Mediterranean Diet.
U.S. (WiredPRNews.com) – A new study suggests olive oil may be a key component in the health benefits of a Mediterranean Diet. As reported by HealthDay News, researchers found that the heart-healthy impact of the diet may be partly attributable to virgin olive oil components.
Francisco Perez-Jimenez of the University of Cordoba, Spain, leader of the study, is quoted in the report as stating in a BioMed Central news release of the findings, “These findings strengthen the relationship between inflammation, obesity and diet and provide evidence at the most basic level of healthy effects derived from virgin olive oil consumption in humans.”
More information about the study may be found in the April 19 online publication of the BMC Genomics journal.
