The actor will portray the controversial doctor in a new HBO film.
Los Angeles (WiredPRNew.com) – Al Pacino will reportedly play controversial doctor Jack Kevorkian in a new HBO film. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Pacino will star in “You Don’t Know Jack” directed by Barry Levinson, which will premiere on HBO on Saturday.
Jack Kevorkian is a controversial pathologist who served eight years in prison for second-degree-murder for the assisted suicide of a patient. His actions and activism sparked a national right to die debate.
Levinson, who won an Oscar for the film “Rain Man,” is quoted by the AP as stating of the movie, “A movie about euthanasia wouldn’t interest me… It was the complexity of the character and how surprising he is. … It’s a very odd, quirky character, up against a perception of him that gets blown out of perspective.”
