President Hugo Chavez takes on critics via the popular social networking site.
Caracas, Venezuela (WiredPRNews.com) – Venezuela President Hugo Chavez has turned to social media to take on critics. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Chavez sent his first Twitter message amid reports that he will utilize social networking sites to counter opposition to the president’s agenda.
Chavez is quoted by the AP as stating in his tweet, “Hey how’s it going? I appeared like I said I would: at midnight. I’m off to Brazil. And very happy to work for Venezuela. We will be victorious!!”
Diosdado Cabello, head of the state-run telecommunications regulator, is further quoted in the report as stating, “The opposition thinks it owns the social networking sites. They think Twitter and Facebook belong to them… We’re fighting and there are 7 million of us who will have Twitter.”
