Several residents of a Fort Worth apartment complex have been without electricity since Thursday.
Fort Worth (WiredPRNews.com) – Several residents of a Fort Worth apartment complex were forced to go without electricity due to alleged meter tampering. As reported by NBC DFW News, Oncor Electric Delivery pulled power meters at the Wyndham Pointe Apartments on Boca Raton Boulevard Thursday, which has purportedly posed issues for some residents.
Resident Laticia Jackson is quoted in the report as stating of having to make special arrangements for her daughter due to being without electricity, “She has a breathing machine… She has to take [medicine] everyday. It plugs up in the wall. And I could not plug it in the wall to give it to her because I had no lights. I’ve paid my monthly bills every month… They took our whole transformer because someone’s messing with the wiring, which was not me.”
A spokesperson for Oncor, Megan Wright, is further quoted in the report as stating of the reason for taking away the service of the residents, “When there’s a hazardous condition, we have to disconnect because of safety for everybody at that apartment… Meter-tampering and theft is more than just a crime. It makes a dangerous safety situation.”
