Two Eastern Iowa districts have expressed worry about inappropriate relationships online.
Iowa (WiredPRNews.com) – Two school districts have expressed concern over the use of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. As reported by the Gazette Online, school officials fear the sites could facilitate inappropriate relatiohsips between faculty and students.
Tom Yates, President of Iowa City’s Education Association is quoted in the report as stating of the issue, “You really, really, have to be careful about your own interactions on the web… Teachers have lost their jobs in Iowa to inappropriate content or connections.”
Linn-Mar superintendent Katie Mulholland, whose district is considering measures for regulating employee use of thes types of websites, is further quoted in the report as stating, “We want to make sure that our children have as many safeguards around them for their learning and any errors that they might make with their behavior.”
