A number of social media outlets are reportedly being used to market Mother’s Day.
New York (WiredPRNews.com) – Modern Mother’s Day promotions have taken on a new face. As reported by USA Today, the increase in the use of social media has facilitated an increase in the use of sites like Facebook and Twitter in Mother’s Day marketing.
As noted in the report, E-Trade and Teleflora are among businesses seeking to take advantage of the extensive user base of popular social media sites in advertising for the holiday. Nick Utton, chief marketing officer at E-Trade, is quoted by USA Today as stating of the company’s “talking messages” promotion for Mother’s Day, “Roses and perfume are nice… But the words that come out of these messages are priceless.”
Social-media guru Allen Mireles is further quoted in the report as stating of the potential benefits for use of these sites in advertising, “Social marketers who keep it real will do best… Social networking is fabulous, but for communication on Mother’s Day, nothing replaces a phone call — or showing up in person.”
