Lena Horne passed away Sunday at age 92.
New York (WiredPRNews.com) – Legendary entertainer Lena Horne has died. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the singer and actress, who broke racial barriers throughout her long-term career, died Sunday at the age of 92.
Friend and collaborator of Horne, Quincy Jones, is quoted by the AP as stating of the star, “Lena Horne was a pioneering groundbreaker, making inroads into a world that had never before been explored by African-American women, and she did it on her own terms… Our nation and the world has lost one of the great artistic icons of the 20th century. There will never be another like Lena Horne and I will miss her deeply.”
Lena Horne’s film credits include “Cabin in the Sky,” and “Stormy Weather.” She has won numerous awards for her film work and music.
