A recent study suggests a burger and fries may aggravate asthma.
U.S. (WiredPRNews.com) – A recent study suggests one of the most popular fast food meals in the country may worsen asthma. As reported by LiveScience.com, researchers found that a burger and fries, and other high fat meals may lead to increased airway inflammation.
Lisa Wood, of the University of Newcastle and researcher on the study, is quoted in the report as stating of the findings, “If these results can be confirmed by further research, this suggests that strategies aimed at reducing dietary fat intake may be useful in managing asthma.” Asthma reportedly affects approximately 34 million people in the country, in accordance with American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology 2007 data.
As noted in the report, the research will be discussed at the annual American Thoracic Society International Conference in New Orleans, May 14-19.
