A scientist in Britain has claimed that he has been infected with a computer virus.
U.K. (WiredPRNews.com) – A scientist in Britain is calling himself the first human to have a “computer virus.” As reported by BBC News, Dr. Mark Gasson of the University of Reading had a virus infected computer chip implanted into his hand, which was purportedly able to pass viruses on to other systems after being inserted.
Dr. Gasson is quoted in the report as stating of the implications for research in connection with the computer chip implant test, “With the benefits of this type of technology come risks. We may improve ourselves in some way but much like the improvements with other technologies, mobile phones for example, they become vulnerable to risks, such as security problems and computer viruses.”
Gasson is further quoted as stating of a potential demand for implanted technologies in the future, “If we can find a way of enhancing someone’s memory or their IQ then there’s a real possibility that people will choose to have this kind of invasive procedure.”
