Former vice president Al Gore and his wife Tipper are reportedly separating. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the couple recently announced their split, after 40 years of marriage.
Gore is quoted by the AP as stating in an email that purportedly circulated Tuesday, the decision to separate was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration.”
Associates of the couple reportedly cited the cause of the split as being due to the couple growing apart amid frequent road trips for various causes over the years. Gore served as vice president under the Clinton administration in the 1990s, and ran for president in 2000. He later received a joint Nobel Peace Prize for his activism regarding climate change.
