The company is reportedly attempting to put a cap over the oil gusher.
BP is reportedly making an attempt to stop the oil spill in the Gulf by capping the gusher. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), live video taken Thursday showed an attempt to position a cap over the broken well to be attached for containment of the oil spill.
Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, named the point man for the disaster for the government, is quoted by the AP as stating of the effort, “We’ll have to see when we get the containment cap on it just how effective it is.” Allen is further quoted as stating of whether there has been an increase in the oil flow, “I don’t think we’ll know until the containment cap is seated on there… We’ll have to wait and see.”
BP CEO Tony Hayward is quoted in the report as stating of cleanup efforts after a solution is found for stopping the spill, “BP will be here for a very long time. We realize this is just the beginning.”
