Washington – Twitter has recently announced its purchase of a web analytics company. As reported by AFP, the micro-blogging company stated it had bought Smallthought Systems citing particular interest in the small firm’s Trendy tool, with which users are able to sort through Google analytics data.
Kevin Weil, the head of analytics for Twitter, is quoted in the report as stating of the purchase in a blog post, “As we grow, analytics becomes an increasingly crucial part of improving our service.” Weil further stated the Smallthought team, which is comprised of four members, “will focus on integrating ideas from Trendly into our current tools and building innovative realtime products for our future commercial partners.”
As noted by AFP, the purchase is included in a list of several other purchases made by Twitter recently.
