Dallas – Several hospitals in North Texas have begun utilizing applications on their cell phones to keep track of patient information. As reported by CBS 11 News, approximately 20 DFW area hospitals use the apps for the organization of patient information in real time.
Dr. Joseph Carlos, an OB/GYN at Medical City in Dallas, is quoted in the report as stating of the technology, “I was obsessive compulsive before I had it, and I’m even more obsessive compulsive after I have it because it’s real time, and I’m on it.”
Dr. Cameron Powell, who along with his team at Texas-based AirStrip Technologies, created an iPhone application for use by medical professionals, is further quoted as stating, “What we’re trying to do is actually close that communication gap by delivering this critical patient data anytime, anywhere with just a cell phone connection to the mobile devices.”
