Princeton NJ – Measuring movements and evaluating shifts in a patient’s attention span, the Quotient ADHD System allows doctors to diagnose the major ADHD symptoms. “The Quotient software examines no fewer than 19 parameters – and supplies an analysis that is more than 90% accurate,” notes New Jersey psychiatrist Dr. Yitzhak Shnaps, who has begun using the Quotient System with his patients. “It employs unique technology to produce objective results in an environment simulating a school or workplace,” says Dr. Shnaps, a Princeton NJ psychiatrist.

During the 15-20 minute test, the patient responds to geometric images generated by the computer. At the same time, a motion detector records the child’s movements, relates NJ psychiatrist Dr. Shnaps. When the exam is finished, the computer evaluates the answers and movement patterns. Comparing the results to results from more than 2,000 children, the program supplies the psychiatrist with a complete report.

The System also evaluates the patient’s attention span – and examines how many rights and wrong answers the patient made. It also looks at how long each answer took. People with attention difficulties customarily have an extremely variable response rate – and make a lot of mistakes. “Those with normal attention spans usually attain a kind of rhythm when answering questions. So a graph of their answers would show consistency in the response time,” says one of the best NJ psychiatrists Dr. Shnaps.
