Salt Lake City – Twitter Inc. recently tweeted about plans for a new data center. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the company announced this week that it will open a large data center in Utah.
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert is quoted by the AP as stating that the plans, “contribute to the development of critical mass in our software and technology economic cluster, which has already attracted companies such as Oracle and eBay and has enabled Omniture and others to prosper.”
Herbert is further quoted as stating, “We have seen these facilities look to our service area because our prices are low — we’re in the lower fifth nationwide for electricity prices. It’s only understandable that people with largest electricity needs would look to Utah.”
Twitter, which allows users to share messages in 140 characters or less, has a reported 300,000 new account sign ups daily.
